Each month PASA will feature a new artist from its Catalog of On-Site Artist Services (COSAS), allowing viewers a more in-depth look at each artist in the catalogue and showcasing their unique discipline and style.

The July COSAS Artist of the month is Dale Jenssen! Dale is a mixed media artist whose work ranges from tile mosaic to lighting elements created from reclaimed and recycled materials. A self-taught welder and metalsmith, Dale’s work evokes a sense of traditional folk as well as custom fine art.

Dale’s body of work consists of a range of functional amenities including sculptures, lamps, sconces, cabinets, and complete interiors.  Each object reflects her personal reconfiguration of found objects combined with an array of other art media, resulting in distinctive sculptures, sconces, and light fixtures.  Simultaneously, Dale specializes in custom mosaic tile work, ranging from interior countertops to public benches and community-inspired sculptures.  Not limited by scale or material, Dale’s artwork is versatile and unique, offering her version of humor and a part of herself with each piece.

A great deal of Dale’s work is inspired by her love of the American Southwest landscape, where she developed much of her professional career. After attending the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and the Glassell School of Art in Houston, Dale relocated to Taos, New Mexico, where she began crafting and marketing handmade jewelry. From Taos she moved to Terlingua, Texas, and discovered her passion for recycled metal and found objects which developed into her signature style of sculpture that she continues to build upon today.  After learning the art of welding and sheet metal manipulation, Dale began building an impressively diverse portfolio of sculptures, custom lighting and functional art pieces that she creates with partner Stacy Parten.

One of Dale's most recent projects for the City of San Antonio encompasses mosaic murals and tiled benches located at the Joe Ward Park swimming facility in central San Antonio.  For more information on purchasing a custom piece from Dale, email her at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
