Each month PASA will feature an artist from the Catalog of On-Site Artist Services (COSAS), showcasing their unique discipline and style and allowing viewers a more in-depth look at each artist in the catalogue.

Our featured artist for the month of February is Rolando Briseno. A San Antonio native with a rich cultural background, Rolando has extensive experience working in a variety of media, including paint, plastics, mixed media and metal.

As a self proclaimed " cultural adjustor" Rolando draws inspiration from his complex love of culture and his insistent desire to push the limits of tradition. Much of his early work was influenced by his Tejano and Mexican roots, which helped him develope his unique artistic identity while gaining experience around the world. Within this time he recieved a BFA in Art History and a BA in Art from the University of Texas at Austin, and an MFA from Columbia University in New York. Also during this time he attended La Universidad Nacional Autonoma in Mexico City, and La Universidad Catolica in LIma, Peru.

Well known for his public art achievments in Texas and New York, Rolando's detailed techniques and subject matter also create an intimate quality to his art that can be seen in such works as " The Learning Tree" at Trinity University San Antonio and "Family Library Table" in Brooklyn, New York. One of the most recent works is  "Galaxy Way", a 131' long suspended colored Plexiglas sculpture in the George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

Rolando is also preparing future work for projects throughout San Antonio, including the Terminal Expansion Project at the San Antonio International Airport. Located within the passenger concourse  in Terminal B, the project will include silk screen details and images of city architecture. Also, for the San Antonio River Improvements Project, he is perparing three canopied walkways designed to be eco friendly shaded perches, providing  cool places for people to engage with the river, and also create iconic places to attract visitors to the river.
