Each month PASA will feature an artist from the Catalog of On-Site Artist Services (COSAS), showcasing their unique discipline and style and allowing viewers a more in-depth look at each artist in the catalogue. Our first featured artist of 2010 is Peter Glassford! Peter specializes in furniture design, sculpture and installation art. Versatile in size, material and function, his work encompasses design-based aesthetics, with unique and original purpose.
Beginning his career as a sculptor, Peter has mastered a range of skills working with materials that include wood, concrete, metal, glass, stone and tile. His work can be seen as contemporary, yet retaining a classical nature through traditional design principles. He creates custom countertops, chairs, wall-relief murals, desks and specialized interiors. Working in both public and private spaces, each custom design is modeled for its surrounding environment.
A native Texan from Laredo and graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, Peter travels between residences and studios in San Antonio and Guadalajara, Jalisco Mexico, where his original inspiration for furniture design began. He co-owns a furniture workshop in Guadalajara that is today a successful international company. Peter and his wife Luz Maria Sánchez developed the Triangle Project Space in San Antonio’s Southtown Art District; an impressive, non-profit space for living, working and creating art.
Peter has work on display at the San Antonio Museum of art. His most recent art commissions can be viewed at the Hotel Contessa and the Tesoro Petroleum Corporate Office in San Antonio Texas. For more information about COSAS artists, visit our online catalog!
